A GROWING COMPANY
Brewster Home Fashions' roots trace back to 1892 Boston, when trending wallpaper decor became more accessible to consumers due to the advent of more affordable machine manufactured wallpapers.
By 1995, Brewster developed its sights
globally, purchasing the English wallpaper
mill Fine Decor, and establishing
booming import relations with China.
By adapting to market changes at the end of the
20th century, Brewster took business in a new
direction, expanding the product line to
include peel and stick wall decals and art kits
and collaboration-based partnerships.
In 2006, to reflect the greater diversity of
product offerings, Brewster Wallcovering
Company became Brewster Home Fashions.
In 2017, Brewster completed the acquisition of Fetco, a leading home decor and picture frame company, further expanding the product catalog into dimensional wall decor, mirrors, shelving, and compact furniture.
American wallpaper manufacturing icon York Wallcoverings opened its doors in 1895 and has been in continuous operation ever since. It still operates from the same factory in South Central Pennsylvania, making it the oldest wallpaper manufacturer in the United States. In 2019, York acquired Hytex Inc. and became North America’s sole surface print manufacturer.
York Wallcoverings owns all five wallpaper printing types available in house, including rare surface print presses that have been in operation since 1895.
COMING TOGETHER
In 2021 Brewster Home Fashions was acquired by private equity firm Industrial Opportunity Partners, followed with the strategic acquisition of York Wallcoverings.
Combined, the company adopted their new corporate name, York Design Group.
